Lightning Strikes Eiffel Tower in Paris, No Damage Reported

A lightning bolt struck the Eiffel Tower in Paris during a strong thunderstorm on June 27‑28, 2026. Video shared on social media captured the bright flash hitting the 330‑metre iron structure, while dense clouds covered the city.

Experts explained that the tower is built to withstand such events. It is hit by lightning five to ten times each year, and its Faraday‑cage design channels the electric charge safely to the ground through a dedicated grounding system. Modern surge‑protection safeguards the elevators, lighting, telecommunications and other electronic equipment, so no damage was observed.
