Lightspeed LA Shifts Creative Direction of AAA Game LAST SENTINEL
Lightspeed LA announced a major shift in the creative and development direction of its upcoming AAA open‑world title LAST SENTINEL after internal reviews and play‑testing indicated early impressions fell short. The change will affect several staff roles; the studio said it will treat impacted employees with compassion, offering support and possible internal transfers.
The company reiterated its long‑term commitment to North America and to investing in local talent. LAST SENTINEL, first revealed at the 2023 Game Awards, is set in a dystopian version of Tokyo and follows protagonist Hiromi Shoda. Lightspeed previously opened a motion‑capture and virtual production studio in 2024 and hired voice actor Troy Baker as performance director. The direction change means fans will have to wait longer for the game's release.
