Liguria tourism surges with record growth in first five months of 2026

In the first five months of 2026, Liguria recorded 2,172,841 arrivals, an 8.09% increase over the same period in 2025, and 5,998,044 overnight stays, up 8.85%. The strongest gains occurred in traditionally off‑season months, with arrivals rising 16.54% in February and 10.23% in May, while stays in May grew 11.39%.

Domestic visitors were led by Lombardy and Piedmont, especially the metropolitan areas of Milan and Turin. Internationally, the largest shares came from France and Germany, with a steady rise in visitors from the United States. Regional President Marco Bucci said the data “confirm we have truly destagionalized tourism” and that reaching six million stays in five months “generates a high‑level economic and employment impact.” Tourism assessor Luca Lombardi added that the strategy is “paying off, especially by highlighting peaks in months that are usually secondary.”
