Lilienfeld police use new testers to crack down on speeding e-scooters

Police in the Lilienfeld district of Lower Austria are increasing enforcement of speed limits for mopeds and e-scooters using new rolling testers. These modern devices allow for widespread verification of the actual top speeds achievable by these vehicles.

In the Lilienfeld district alone, more than 20 vehicles have been measured this year, resulting in numerous citations. In eleven cases, license plates were temporarily confiscated on the spot due to significant violations. Authorities reported finding e-scooters reaching speeds of over 60 km/h. Violations include breaches of the motor vehicle act and operating vehicles without the required licenses. Vehicles found to have been manipulated or exceeding limits must undergo technical inspections at a state testing center.
