E-scooter speed enforcement in Lower Austria

Overview

Police in the Lilienfeld district of Lower Austria are intensifying enforcement of speed limits for mopeds and e-scooters. Authorities are utilizing new rolling testers to verify the actual top speeds of vehicles.

This year, more than 20 vehicles have been measured in the district, leading to numerous citations. In eleven instances, license plates were temporarily confiscated on the spot following significant violations. Officials reported finding e-scooters reaching speeds exceeding 60 km/h. Violations identified include breaches of the motor vehicle act and operating vehicles without required licenses. Any vehicles found to be manipulated or exceeding speed limits are required to undergo technical inspections at a state testing center.
