Lima's ATU offers up to 95% fine discounts and introduces S/3.50 integrated bus fare
The Autoridad de Transporte Urbano (ATU) in Lima and Callao announced a discount program for formal public‑transport operators. Under the Programa de Regulación de Sanciones, drivers and vehicle owners can receive reductions of up to 95 % on traffic fines: 90 % for light infractions, 92 % for serious violations and 95 % for the most severe. Applicants must have a valid vehicle title, belong to the formal transport sector and submit a request through ATU’s online platform, after which the authority responds within 72 hours.
In a separate measure, ATU implemented an integrated fare of S/3.50 for feeder buses operating in Lima’s northern and southern zones, effective 20 June. The fare applies to a list of routes in each zone and allows passengers to travel across the Metropolitan system with a single payment, including free transfers to designated terminals and stations such as Chimpu Ocllo, Naranjal, Matinali, Los Incas and Universidad.
