Liên Khương Airport reopens, sparking rush for Da Lat flights

Liên Khương International Airport in Da Lat resumed operations on 19 August after runway upgrades, allowing direct flights from Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi. Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet Air opened routes on the same day, with tickets priced around 1 million VND from HCM and about 1.5 million VND from Hanoi, inclusive of taxes and fees.

Travelers are rapidly booking seats for late‑August and early‑September trips, citing lower fares and the convenience of a four‑hour flight‑plus‑road journey versus the previous need to fly to nearby airports and complete a lengthy road transfer. The airport’s proximity—just a 35‑45 minute drive to downtown Da Lat—means tourists can save significant time and money, prompting an expected surge of visitors to the city’s cafés and new attractions.
