Lien Khuong International Airport to Reopen on Aug 19 after Major Upgrade
Vietnam's Lien Khuong International Airport in Lam Dong province is scheduled to resume operations on 19 August 2026, ending a five‑month closure that began on 4 March 2026 for a comprehensive runway and taxi‑way renovation. The upgrade, costing about 1.032 trillion VND, replaced the runway surface, installed new lighting, and modernised navigation and signalling equipment.
From 23‑28 July 2026 the airport conducted test and calibration flights to verify the upgraded systems. Authorities expect the reopened airport to handle 36‑40 domestic flights per day, linking Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Da Nang, Vinh, Can Tho and Hai Phong, and to restore the Da Lat–Kuala Lumpur international service with eight weekly round‑trips. The first day of commercial service will accommodate around 28 flights.
The reopening aims to boost regional tourism and logistics, supporting Vietnam's broader economic growth and its efforts to enhance air‑transport infrastructure.
