Linda Hamilton reacts to news of new Terminator film

Actress Linda Hamilton expressed surprise and humor regarding reports that director James Cameron is writing a seventh installment in the Terminator franchise. During an interview promoting her new film, ‘Trust Me, I’m a Doctor’, Hamilton reacted to the news by stating, “I’m out,” after laughing at the announcement.

Hamilton noted the commercial underperformance of the previous film, ‘Terminator: Dark Fate’, which questioned the necessity of a new entry. James Cameron has indicated that the upcoming project will focus on a new generation of characters, meaning Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sarah Connor, and John Connor will not return. Cameron stated that the franchise needs to move forward as the story arcs for the original characters have concluded, noting the challenges of writing science fiction in a modern era where such concepts are increasingly part of reality.
