LinkedIn combats AI-generated content with new reporting tool

LinkedIn has introduced a new reporting feature to combat “AI slop,” allowing users to flag low-quality, automated content. Within three weeks of the feature's launch, over 1 million users have utilized the reporting option. Consequently, the reach of posts categorized as low-quality AI content has dropped by 40% weekly.

This initiative follows reports from AI detection firm Pangram, which found that LinkedIn has a significantly higher rate of AI-generated long-form content compared to other social platforms. According to Pangram's analysis, approximately 41% of long posts on LinkedIn are entirely AI-generated, accounting for 62% of all flagged AI content across the platforms studied.

In addition to the new reporting tool, LinkedIn has removed its “Enhance post” feature, which previously allowed users to use AI to rewrite or generate entire posts. The company is also implementing notification systems to inform authors when their content is frequently reported as potentially AI-generated.
