Linux Foundation launches Agent2Agent Protocol for AI workflows

The rise of agentic AI is forcing a rethink of enterprise API architectures. Unlike traditional applications that follow predictable, predefined workflows, AI agents operate based on goals, choosing tools and execution paths dynamically at runtime.

To address the need for interoperability, the Linux Foundation has announced the Agent2Agent (A2A) Protocol Project. This initiative aims to support discovery, communication, and collaboration between different AI agents across various systems. For enterprise architects, the primary challenge lies in ensuring that agents can discover capabilities and execute actions within established security and auditing controls, even when their invocation patterns are not fully predetermined.
