Lions Club Fasano to provide free eye screenings for students
The Lions Club Fasano is organizing a free ophthalmological screening for students at the Istituto Comprensivo Giovanni XXIII – Pascoli in Fasano. Scheduled for the morning of Tuesday, October 20, 2026, the initiative is part of the “Occhio ai bimbi” project established by Lions International.
The campaign aims to prevent amblyopia, often referred to as “lazy eye,” a condition where visual acuity is reduced in one or both eyes due to abnormal nerve connections between the eye and the brain. Because children with amblyopia may appear to have normal vision during daily activities, early detection is critical.
The screenings will take place at the school located on via Galizia, conducted with the assistance of ophthalmologist Dr. Isabella Milano and optometrist Anna Maria Alessandra Poggianella.
