Lions Club pediatric vision screening initiatives

Overview

The Lions Club has implemented various ophthalmological screening initiatives in Italy under the “Occhio ai bimbi” project to prevent amblyopia in children.

In Fasano, the Lions Club Fasano organized screenings at the Istituto Comprensivo Giovanni XXIII – Pascoli to detect conditions such as “lazy eye” through the assistance of medical specialists.

In Tarquinia, the Lions Club of Tarquinia conducted screenings at the “Trieste Valdi” and “Luca Leoni” nursery schools. These examinations, performed by specialists, identified visual defects including astigmatism and hypermetropia in 14 of the 115 children screened.
