Liptovský Mikuláš unveils Olympic Winners Monument

A new monument, the Olympic Winners Relief, has been unveiled in the Olympic Winners Park in Liptovský Mikuláš, Slovakia. The structure is the first of its kind in the country, standing five meters tall and weighing approximately 24 tons.

Created by academic sculptor Martin Navrátil over a ten-month period, the monument utilizes a combination of corten steel and bronze. The bronze figures symbolically represent the sports in which Petra Vlhová, Michal Martikán, and Elena Kaliská won Olympic gold. The central element features a corten steel construction inspired by the Olympic rings.

Olympic slalom champion Petra Vlhová expressed pride in being part of the project, describing it as a beautiful memory of her achievements and a message for future young athletes. Silver medalist Jakub Grigar also noted that the park serves as motivation for upcoming athletes to reach the world stage through hard work.
