Liptovský Mikuláš Olympic Winners Park establishment
Overview
The town of Liptovský Mikuláš, Slovakia, has established the country’s first Olympic Winners Park. The project features a five-meter-tall, 24-ton monument titled the ‘Olympic Winners Relief,’ created by sculptor Martin Navrátil.
The monument is constructed from bronze, stainless steel, and corten steel, with bronze figures representing the Olympic gold medal achievements of athletes Petra Vlhová, Michal Martikán, and Elena Kaliská. The design incorporates elements inspired by the Olympic rings.
Following the unveiling, Olympic slalom champion Petra Vlhová described the monument as a “beautiful memory” of her achievements and a message for future young athletes. Silver medalist Jakub Grigar added that the park serves as motivation for upcoming athletes to reach the world stage.
