Lisa wins Best Pop at 2026 MTV VMAs with ‘Dream’

Lisa, a member of BLACKPINK, made history at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards by winning the Best Pop award for her song ‘Dream’, featuring Japanese actor Kentaro Sakaguchi. This victory marks her as the first Asian solo artist to win in this category, following BTS, who won the same award in 2020.

During the ceremony held at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, Lisa also performed her new single ‘SaWaDiKa’ for the first time on television. The song, which incorporates elements of her Thai roots, is part of her debut solo studio album, ‘Alter Ego’.

While the win was celebrated by many, it also sparked debate among some viewers on social media. Critics questioned the result based on streaming numbers compared to other nominees like Taylor Swift and Ariana Grande, though the Best Pop category is determined by fan voting. Additionally, backstage footage featuring Thai actor Blue Pongtiwat has fueled ongoing rumors regarding Lisa's personal life.
