Lisbon implements fixed taxi tariffs for airport transfers

The Lisbon City Council, in agreement with taxi associations, Lisbon Tourism, and ANA Aeroportos, has established a new fixed-tariff model for taxi services operating at Humberto Delgado Airport. Effective October 15, passengers traveling between the airport and Lisbon will be able to know their fare in advance, addressing long-standing issues regarding security and fraudulent practices.

For daytime trips (07:00 to 22:00), Zone 1 destinations—including areas such as Alvalade, Parque das Nações, and Olivais—will cost €16. Zone 2 destinations—including Belém, Alcântara, and Benfica—will cost €19. During nighttime hours (22:00 to 07:00), weekends, and holidays, prices increase to €20 for Zone 1 and €23 for Zone 2.

These fixed rates are inclusive of potential supplements for luggage, waiting time, animal transport, and tolls, meaning no additional charges may be applied. The measure follows a police operation that identified numerous irregularities in taxi meter usage at the airport. To operate in the designated arrival areas, taxis must be properly identified, offer electronic payment methods, and adhere to these fixed rates.
