Lisbon airport taxi tariff regulation
Overview
To address security concerns and fraudulent practices, the Lisbon City Council and various transport and tourism associations have established a new fixed-tariff model for taxi services at Humberto Delgado Airport. The regulation is set to take effect on October 15.
Under the new system, Lisbon is divided into two tariff zones for daytime trips (07:00 to 22:00). Zone 1, covering areas such as Alvalade, Parque das Nações, and Olivais, will cost €16. Zone 2, including Belém, Alcântara, and Benfica, will cost €19. During nighttime hours (22:00 to 07:00), weekends, and holidays, rates increase to €20 for Zone 1 and €23 for Zone 2.
These fixed rates are intended to be all-inclusive, covering potential supplements for luggage, tolls, waiting time, and animal transport. The measure follows police inspections that identified numerous irregularities, such as improper taximeter usage. To operate in designated arrival areas, taxis must be properly identified and offer electronic payment methods.
