Listeria contamination triggers food recalls in France and Canada

Food authorities in France and Canada have issued recalls for various products due to potential Listeria monocytogenes contamination.

In France, Carrefour has recalled the ‘Burger Maxi Bacon’ from its ‘Carrefour Bon Appétit’ brand. The 195g prepared meal was sold in Carrefour stores nationwide between July 28 and August 12. Consumers are advised not to eat the product and can return it to the store for a refund. Symptoms of listeriosis can include fever, headaches, and muscle aches, with higher risks for pregnant women, the elderly, and the immunocompromised.

In Canada, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is recalling several meat products from the brand Clément le Gourmand in Quebec. The affected items include 150g formats of pâté de campagne, mousse de foie de canard au porto, and pâté de foie au cognac. Because contaminated food may not show visible signs of spoilage or odor, the CFIA recommends that consumers either discard the products or return them to the point of purchase.
