Literary events and book exchanges held in Poland
Various literary and cultural events recently took place in Poland, focusing on community engagement through reading and storytelling.
In Gostyniu, the Public Library of the City and Commune organized ‘Sunday in the Library’ under the theme of storytelling. Part of the ‘Academy of Useful Entertainment 4.0’ program, the event aimed to educate youth and build relationships with books through emotional engagement. Activities included performative reading, puppet making, Kamishibai theater, and graphic workshops for designing board games.
Separately, the ‘Great Book Exchange’ organized by the Pomeranian Social Initiatives Association drew thousands of participants. The event featured a meeting with Katarzyna Dowbor and allowed readers to swap thousands of titles. Organizers noted that the exchange process uncovered various forgotten items tucked inside books, such as old photographs, notes, and even legal documents, some of which organizers attempted to return to their rightful owners.
