Literary events celebrate works of Igor Marojević and Lazar Merković
Recent literary events in Budva and Subotica have highlighted the works of significant regional authors. In Budva, Montenegro, a literary evening was held in the Old Town in front of the Citadel to present the book ‘Majko, pusti me da idem’ by Serbian writer and translator Igor Marojević. The discussion, featuring Marojević and Živko Vlahović, explored themes of individual dilemmas and complex human relationships.
In Subotica, Serbia, the collected works of Lazar Merković, titled ‘Sam pod zvijezdama’, were presented at the City Library to mark the centenary of his birth. Published by the Institute for the Culture of Vojvodina Croats, the 560-page volume includes poetry, novels, a bibliography, and a biography. The event served to re-evaluate Merković’s historical importance to the literary culture of Subotica and the wider region.
