Literary events draw massive participation in Argentina and Mexico

In Argentina, the Fundación Leer has announced that over 2.3 million people have already registered for the 2026 National Reading Marathon, scheduled for October 2. The participants include approximately 2.1 million children and youths and 275,000 adults across 8,344 institutions. The province of Buenos Aires leads in registrations, followed by Córdoba, Entre Ríos, Mendoza, and Corrientes. This year’s theme, “From the future to beyond: when literature imagines other possible worlds,” focuses on exploring imaginary universes and the consequences of present decisions.

In Mexico, the 5th Morelia International Book and Reading Fair (Fillm) will feature the “Territorio Lector” program. Organized by the Morelia Secretariat of Culture in coordination with the National Institute of Fine Arts and Literature (INBAL), the program includes public readings by actors Tiaré Scanda, Juan Ignacio Aranda, and Arturo Beristáin. The fair, which runs from September 25 to October 4, includes over 200 activities aimed at strengthening cultural access and promoting reading through community engagement.
