Literary events open in Brasília and Portugal
The Brasília International Book Biennial has opened at the National Museum of the Republic. Running until August 23, the event offers free admission and centers on the theme “Reading Tomorrow,” aiming to discuss the future through culture and knowledge. The program features various speakers, including Djamila Ribeiro and Leonardo Boff, and includes panels on literacy policies, journalism, and violence against women.
In Portugal, the Casa dos Livros, part of the University of Porto, is hosting a bibliographic exhibition titled “Verba Volant, Scripta Manent.” The exhibition showcases printed books from the 16th, 17th, and 18th centuries. It is organized into two sections: one highlighting the collection of Vasco Graça Mourae and works by Luis de Camões, and another featuring the António Cortesão estate, representing libraries formed in the 19th and early 20th centuries.
