Lithuania conducts nationwide emergency siren and mobile alert test

Lithuania is conducting a nationwide test of its Public Warning and Information System as part of the ‘Vyčio skliautas 2026’ mobilization exercises. The test involves the activation of warning sirens and the distribution of emergency alerts to mobile phones.

On Tuesday, September 29, sirens will sound for three minutes, from 11:52 to 11:55. Following the siren test, information and recommendations will be broadcast via Lithuanian National Radio and Television, as well as regional and local radio stations. Mobile phone emergency alerts are scheduled to be sent to users with the function enabled between 11:52 and 12:00.

The exercise is coordinated by the National Crisis Management Center and the Department of Mobilization and Civil Resistance under the Ministry of National Defence. Currently, the system includes 1,163 sirens, covering approximately 69 percent of the Lithuanian population.
