Lithuania considers new vehicle inspection regulations
The Lithuanian Seimas is considering amendments to the Law on Safe Traffic of Vehicles on Roads to tighten technical inspection protocols. Under the proposed changes, a successful technical inspection would no longer guarantee a vehicle's status for the full two-year period if doubts arise regarding the quality of the initial assessment.
If it is discovered that an inspection was conducted with errors, faulty diagnostic equipment, or inspector mistakes, vehicle owners could be summoned for an extraordinary inspection. Owners would have one month to comply with this request. Failure to attend the unscheduled inspection could result in the cancellation of the vehicle's existing technical inspection status.
