Lithuania earmarks €62.8 million EU funds for four Kaunas‑region industrial projects

The Innovation Agency together with the Ministry of Economy and Innovation will allocate more than €62.8 million of European Union funds to four projects in the Kaunas region of Lithuania. The funding, increased from an initial €60 million by €2.81 million, will support expansion of production capacity, implementation of sustainable technologies, acquisition of modern equipment and training for workers. The projects, located in Kaunas city, Kaunas district, Kaišiadorys and Kėdainiai municipalities, are expected to create about 900 sustainable jobs. Three of the four projects will develop STEP (Strategic Technologies for Europe Platform) technologies, contributing to the EU’s strategic technology agenda and enhancing Lithuanian industrial competitiveness.

Economy and Innovation Minister Edvinas Grikšas said the investment will “strengthen the country's industrial potential, promote a sustainable transformation and contribute to job creation in the regions.” Innovation Agency director Monika Paulė added that the strong interest from large industrial firms shows readiness to invest in long‑term growth and sustainable production, boosting regional economies and high‑skill employment.
