Lithuania electricity prices rise as wholesale costs jump 47 percent
Wholesale electricity prices in Lithuania rose by 47 percent last week, increasing from 94.7 Eur/MWh to 139.1 Eur/MWh. This surge follows a decrease in local generation, specifically due to wind power production dropping by half during the midweek period. This trend mirrors broader increases across the Baltic Sea region, where prices rose by an average of 38 percent.
In Lithuania, energy suppliers Ignitis and Elektrum have adjusted their fixed-price plan tariffs. For 12-month fixed plans, the average price for single-zone plans increased from 0.310 Eur/kWh to 0.318 Eur/kWh. For 24-month plans, single-zone rates rose by 1.6 percent to 0.317 Eur/kWh. Average prices for non-fixed energy plans also saw a significant jump, rising 20.2 percent week-on-week to 0.321 Eur/kWh.
Regional price shifts included a 46 percent increase in Latvia, a 43 percent increase in Estonia, and a 63 percent increase in Finland. In contrast, Poland saw a slight decrease of 2 percent.
