Lithuania labor market shows mid-summer slowdown but remains strong

The Lithuanian labor market experienced a mid-summer slowdown, yet remains stronger than the previous year. According to the Employment Service, while the rate of people returning to work slowed and unemployment rose slightly in some municipalities, overall trends remain positive.

Registered unemployment stood at 8% as of August 1, a 0.3% increase from the previous month. Despite seasonal fluctuations, the number of job seekers remains lower than during the same period last year.

Job vacancies have remained stable, exceeding 15,000 for the fifth consecutive month. Significant demand was noted in the manufacturing, administration, service, and retail sectors. Average gross monthly salaries for newly registered vacancies reached €1,735, representing a 10% increase compared to the previous year.
