Lithuania offers subsidies for fruit and vegetable producer organizations

Lithuanian fruit and vegetable producers have an opportunity to secure financial assistance through the 2023–2027 Strategic Plan for Agricultural and Rural Development. Applications will be accepted throughout September under the sectoral intervention measure ‘Support to producer organizations in the fruit and vegetable sector’.

This support, provided by the European Union and the state, is aimed at helping farmers modernize farms, increase bargaining power within food supply chains, and improve climate change resilience. Funding is distributed as non-repayable subsidies via the National Paying Agency.

To qualify, applicants must be officially recognized producer organizations, such as cooperatives, associations, or agricultural companies, consisting of at least five members with an annual turnover of at least 300,000 euros. The aid is intended to implement approved 3–7 year action programs focusing on production investment, marketing, and market positioning.

Intensity of support can reach 50–60% of eligible costs, with certain activities qualifying for 80–100%. Total aid is capped at 4.1% of the organization's sold production value, which may increase to 4.6% in specific cases involving crisis management or prevention.
