Lithuania opens applications for agricultural investment grants

Applications are currently being accepted until November 30 for the Lithuanian Agriculture and Rural Development Strategic Plan 2023–2027. The measure, titled ‘Investments in Agricultural Holdings’, aims to fund large-scale investment projects to increase competitiveness and modernization through the acquisition of modern machinery, production buildings, and technologies.

Eligible applicants include both individuals (farmers) and legal entities (companies and cooperatives) engaged in agricultural activities. To qualify, a holding must meet a minimum economic size criterion, with a production standard value (PSV) of at least 30,001 EUR. Supported sectors include dairy and beef cattle, other livestock, pig and poultry farming, as well as fruit, berry, vegetable, flower, and herbal cultivation.

Note that grain growers are excluded from applying via this simplified procedure. The support is provided in the form of non-repayable grants from the European Union and the Lithuanian state. Maximum grant amounts are capped at 1,000,000 EUR per project, or up to 2,000,000 EUR for recognized agricultural cooperatives. Recipients must adhere to their business plans and maintain acquired assets and operational indicators for five years following the final disbursement.
