Lithuania parcel volumes plunge following new EU import duties

Lithuania has seen a significant drop in low-value parcel volumes following the implementation of new European Union import duties. The policy, which imposes a three-euro duty on imports under 150 euros, targets items from major Asian e-commerce platforms such as Temu, AliExpress, and Shein.

Logistics providers in Lithuania report substantial contractions in import traffic. DPD Lietuva, a subsidiary of Geopost, reported a 70 percent decrease in these specific shipment volumes. Lithuania Post and its LP Express service recorded a 30 percent decline in third-country import volumes, while Omniva also noted a contraction in direct orders from Asia.

Customs data highlights the scale of the shift. In July, reported small parcels from China fell drastically compared to the same period in the previous year. While some industry experts suggest that administrative transitions and seasonal summer lulls may influence the data, the immediate impact on cross-border e-commerce logistics is evident.
