Lithuania prepares €19.576 million aid package for farmers

The Lithuanian Ministry of Agriculture is preparing a €19.576 million support package to assist farmers facing increased costs from rising fertilizer and fuel prices. The aid is expected to be distributed between October and November.

Proposed support will target milk producers and crop farmers. For dairy producers, assistance will be based on the number of milking cows registered in the Livestock Register. For crop farmers, it will be determined by the area of crops declared for direct payments, including cereals, rapeseed, potatoes, vegetables, sugar beets, and various orchards or fiber crops.

Agriculture Minister Kęstutis Mažeika indicated that small and medium-sized farms could potentially receive up to €4,500, specifically mentioning farms with up to 300 hectares or 300 dairy cows. However, the minister noted that the final calculation methods and specific rates per hectare or per cow are still being finalized and are subject to change.
