Lithuania proposes stricter real estate and entry rules for Russians and Belarusians

The Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has submitted proposals to the Seimas to tighten restrictions on real estate purchases and activities by Russian and Belarusian citizens. Under the proposed changes, Belarusian citizens and their legal entities without residence permits would be prohibited from purchasing real estate located near strategically important objects.

The proposals also seek to bar entry to individuals and entities involved in educational, cultural, sporting, or artistic activities in Russia-annexed or temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine. Furthermore, those who directly or indirectly support or participated in the war initiated by the Kremlin would face restrictions.

To enter the country, individuals may be required to sign a publicly disclosed declaration condemning Russian aggression against Ukraine and expressing support for its territorial integrity. Exceptions would apply to those who have clearly acted against the aggression or occupation. If approved, these amendments would take effect on January 1 of next year.
