Lithuanian Defence Minister Robertas Kaunas said intelligence services have information that Russia is evaluating the use of captured Ukrainian‑made drones in a false‑flag operation aimed at the Baltic region. The proposed scenario would involve re‑assembling seized drones to carry out kinetic attacks on critical energy and transport infrastructure in Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and possibly Poland, with the objective of making NATO waver and reducing its support for Ukraine.

Kaunas stressed that no decision has been taken and there is no immediate threat of such an operation. Lithuania has already reinforced protection of key facilities, including the LNG terminal at Klaipėda and the LitPol Link electricity connection. NATO allies and Baltic leaders have issued similar warnings. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov dismissed the claims as “scare stories.”
