Lithuania weather: Cyclones bring heavy rain and wind warnings
Lithuania is experiencing a period of unsettled autumn weather characterized by multiple cyclones bringing rain and wind. Meteorologists have issued warnings for several regions, including Klaipėda, Telšiai, Tauragė, Šiauliai, Kaunas, and Marijampolė, where thunderstorms are expected. Residents are advised to stay indoors during lightning and prepare for potential power disruptions.
Heavy rainfall has already been recorded, with Švenčionys receiving 31.9 mm of rain in a single 24-hour period, nearly half of the monthly norm. Cyclones moving through the country are expected to bring continuous or heavy rain through Friday, with wind gusts reaching up to 18 m/s in some areas. Temperatures are expected to remain cool, ranging between 11 and 19 degrees Celsius.
Despite the current wet conditions, some meteorologists predict a brief period of improved weather next week, with potential for warmer, sunny days and temperatures reaching 20 degrees Celsius.
