Lithuanian Economy Minister Edvinas Grikšas tours Prienai and Ukmergė to attract investment

Economy and Innovation Minister Edvinas Grikšas visited the Prienai district on July 21, meeting Mayor Algis Vaicekauskas and regional officials. He presented the area’s strengths, discussed challenges such as limited land and competition with the Kaunas free‑economic zone, and explored the possibility of granting Prienai resort‑area status. The mayor highlighted recent infrastructure upgrades, fast‑track permits and incentives that have spurred new residential projects, including a planned nine‑storey mixed‑use building.

Two days later, on July 23, the minister travelled to the Ukmergė district, meeting Mayor Darius Varnas, Seimas member Indrė Kižienė and other local leaders. The delegation toured manufacturing firms Systemair and Narbutas International and the district’s tourism centre, discussing ways to strengthen the investment climate, boost export competitiveness and develop tourism. Officials underscored Ukmergė’s strategic location, strong industrial base and growing tourism potential.
