Lithuanian National Library promotes family recipe archive and Palanga summer cultural events

The Lithuanian National Martynas Mažvydas Library has launched a public call to collect family recipes, asking residents to submit their traditional pickling, preserving and marinating methods by 31 October. Library director Dr. Jolanta Budriūnienė emphasized that such household recipes constitute “living history” and will be archived as part of the nation’s cultural heritage.

In August, the Library’s Palanga Summer Reading Room marks its 60th anniversary with an extensive cultural programme. Director of Services Renata Lygienė said the schedule is designed “so that both Palanga residents and visitors can find something for themselves.” Events include new publications from the National Museum of Fine Arts, a presentation of a historic photograph album of Vilnius, literary workshops, concerts, and a stand‑up comedy segment. Dr. Aistė Bimbirytė will lead discussions on visual culture and the city’s history.
