Lithuania prepares for new academic year and student obligations

Lithuania prepares for the upcoming academic year with significant updates in education and social obligations. In higher education, 21,718 first-year students have signed study contracts, with Kaunas College seeing a 17.6 percent increase in applicants. In Panevėžys, over 10,000 students will return to schools that have undergone modernizations, including new STEAM spaces.

Regarding social responsibilities, young people finishing studies must ensure their compulsory health insurance (PSD) is maintained. While the state covers insurance for those in high schools or universities, those entering the workforce or traveling abroad may need to pay contributions independently to avoid debt.

Additionally, experts advise families to prepare for the transition back to school routines to mitigate traffic congestion and psychological stress caused by changing schedules.
