Lithuania's Transport Minister Announces Near‑Billion‑Euro Road Funding Boost for 2025
Transport Minister Juras Taminskas told LRT that the combined budget for the State Road Fund and the Road Maintenance and Development Programme will exceed the 2026 allocation of €815.5 million, aiming for close to €1 billion in the 2025 fiscal year. He said the new electronic heavy‑vehicle toll system, Via Toll, which will start operating in 2027, is expected to contribute at least €110 million annually to the Road Fund, up from the current €70 million collected by the existing vignette system.
Association “Lietuvos keliai” head Šarūnas Frolenko warned that while the financing increase is welcomed, the core funding source must not be reduced, as it underpins the maintenance of Lithuania’s 21 000 km state road network.
