Lithuania's Via Lietuva launches reconstruction of A2 bridges and A11 road segment
Via Lietuva has begun rebuilding two viaducts on the A2 highway near Ukmergė. The Vaitkuškis bridge (km 64.609) will be demolished on July 7 and traffic will be rerouted for about two weeks; reconstruction is contracted to UAB YIT Lietuva for over €2 million and is slated for completion in spring 2027. The Kurėnų bridge (km 78.424) will be taken down the same day, with a night‑long full closure of the adjoining local road; UAB Tilsta will rebuild it for more than €2.2 million, aiming for a finish by the end of 2026.
In parallel, work has started on a 4.4‑km stretch of the A11 Šiauliai–Palanga road between Kretinga and Vydmantai. The simple repair, valued at over €2.4 million, includes resurfacing, drainage upgrades and a new signal‑controlled intersection near Kretingsodžiai. Traffic will be limited to one lane and guided by temporary signs, with alternative routes suggested for heavy vehicles. The project is being carried out by AB Eurovia Lietuva and is expected to be finished by November this year.
