LiuGong launches Indonesia's first electric heavy equipment plant in Karawang
Chinese heavy‑equipment maker LiuGong began construction of a local manufacturing facility in Karawang, West Java, with an annual capacity of 5,000 units. The plant will produce the country's first electric‑powered heavy‑equipment, incorporate up to 70% automation and use 30% green energy, and is slated to expand on a 2.7‑hectare site.
Governor Dedi Mulyadi attended the groundbreaking ceremony, saying the factory will lower procurement costs for infrastructure projects, boost regional revenue, and create jobs. Officials noted Indonesia needs about 19,000 units this year but domestic capacity covers only roughly half, underscoring the plant's role in closing the supply gap for construction, mining, and plantation sectors.
