Liverpool FC faces contract decisions for Alisson and Van Dijk

Liverpool FC faces critical decisions regarding the futures of veteran players Alisson Becker and Virgil van Dijk, both of whom are due to expire their contracts at the end of the 2026/27 season.

Juventus has reportedly expressed interest in Alisson Becker, seeking to acquire the 34-year-old Brazilian goalkeeper. While Liverpool previously resisted selling him to former coach Luciano Spalletti, Alisson's current deal is nearing its end. The club has already acquired goalkeeper Lucca Brughmans, which may influence their decision on whether to retain or release Alisson.

Captain Virgil van Dijk, 35, is also facing contract uncertainty amid links to Real Madrid and Juventus. To manage these high-stakes negotiations, Fenway Sports Group has re-appointed Julian Ward as sporting director. Ward, who previously handled major renewals such as Mohamed Salah's, is expected to lead the discussions to determine if the club will extend the stays of its senior leaders.
