Liverpool FC squad and structural developments

Overview

Liverpool FC continues to navigate significant squad transitions and contract uncertainties under manager Andoni Iraola. While the club previously resisted selling Alisson Becker to Juventus, the goalkeeper is now entering the final nine months of his contract. Although a one-year extension was previously activated, journalist Fabrizio Romano noted that no active negotiations for a new deal are currently underway, leaving him at risk of becoming a free agent in summer 2027.

This situation affects the future of Giorgi Mamardashvili, who remains under contract until 2031 but may seek an exit in 2027 if Alisson remains the undisputed number one. Mamardashvili has seen limited playing time this season, appearing only once in the EFL Cup.

In the midfield, uncertainty grows as Alexis Mac Allister is reportedly unlikely to sign a new contract, despite his deal running until June 2028. This follows a decline in the combined estimated transfer value of Mac Allister and Ryan Gravenberch by €12.3 million.

Recruitment efforts remain active. The club has made a record-breaking offer for 17-year-old Mexican midfielder Gilberto Mora, with potential fees cited between $50 million and £37 million. Liverpool is also linked to Real Madrid’s Endrick for a potential January loan and has expressed interest in Lamine Camara. Regarding departures, Federico Chiesa is attracting interest from Serie A clubs, including Inter, Lazio, and Atalanta, making a January exit increasingly likely.
