Liverpool FC ownership stake deal reached by Amit Bhatia and Jeff Bezos consortium

A consortium led by Amit Bhatia, which includes Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and Facebook co-founder Eduardo Saverin, has agreed to purchase a 38 per cent stake in Liverpool Football Club from Fenway Sports Group (FSG). The investment is currently awaiting regulatory approval.

Upon approval, Amit Bhatia is expected to become the club’s vice-chairman and join an expanded board of directors alongside Elaine Saverin and Bryan Baum. While Bezos will not hold a board seat, finance experts suggest the new ownership group may use its significant resources to pursue major new front-of-shirt sponsorship deals to increase the club’s competitive financial standing.

Bhatia described the opportunity to be involved with the club as “the stuff of dreams” and expressed a commitment to bringing further success to the institution while working alongside the existing FSG leadership.
