Liverpool FC players Ndukwe and Scanlon approach loan moves

Liverpool FC is preparing for several player departures on loan as part of their squad development strategy for the 2026/27 season.

Ifeanyi Ndukwe, an 18-year-old Austrian youth international, is expected to leave the club on loan next week. Despite impressive performances during the pre-season due to defensive injuries to Joe Gomez, Jeremy Jacquet, and Giovanni Leoni, the club intends to find a suitable platform for his continued growth. Ndukwe has reportedly received interest from clubs in Portugal.

Additionally, 21-year-old defender Calum Scanlon is nearing a loan move to Cardiff City. After featuring in Liverpool’s US pre-season tour, Scanlon is expected to return to the Welsh club where he previously helped secure promotion. The move is seen as a way for the left-back to secure regular playing time, as he faces competition from Milos Kerkez and Kostas Tsimikas.
