Liverpool signs Belgian goalkeeper Lucca Brughmans from Genk
Liverpool has agreed to sign 18-year-old Belgian goalkeeper Lucca Brughmans from KRC Genk in a deal reportedly worth up to £30 million (approximately €35 million) including add-ons. The tall goalkeeper, standing 6ft 7in, has signed a long-term contract with the English club but will remain at Genk on loan for the 2026–27 season before officially joining the Merseyside side ahead of the 2027–28 campaign.
The move is viewed as a long-term succession plan for Liverpool’s goalkeeping position, providing competition and future depth as veteran Alisson Becker enters the later stages of his career. The transfer also impacts the Belgian league, as Genk is expected to secure Tobe Leysen from OH Leuven to bolster their squad while Brughmans remains on loan.
Brughmans, a Belgian youth international, has already established himself as a regular starter for Genk and is noted for his physical presence and shot-stopping abilities.
