Livestock markets show strong demand in Uruguay and Paraguay

Livestock markets in Uruguay and Paraguay have shown strong demand during recent auctions. In Uruguay, the Agronegocios Sarandí auction saw 97.86% of the offered cattle sold, with 6,495 head of cattle traded. While calves generally fetched higher prices, heifers commanded a higher bulk price of US$893 compared to US$886 for calves. High demand for breeding categories was noted, partly driven by heavy rains in the eastern part of the country which encouraged the movement of cattle to growing pastures.

In Paraguay, the 16th televised elite breeder fair for Ganadera La Blanca, managed by Piemonte Trading, achieved a 100% sales rate. The auction highlighted active demand for genetics, with Senepol bulls reaching averages between G. 19.8 million and G. 23.2 million. The event emphasized the importance of data-driven selection, focusing on meat quality and hardiness rather than just visual evaluation.
