Livestock producers in La Paz receive drought relief and pest prevention training

Recent rainfall in the municipality of La Paz has provided significant relief to the livestock sector in Baja California Sur, ending a period of continuous drought that lasted up to two years in some rural areas. The precipitation has helped recharge aquifers and recover grazing lands, ensuring food and sustenance for livestock in communities such as La Soledad, El Triunfo, Todos Santos, and El Pescadero.

In conjunction with these environmental developments, the Secretariat of Fisheries, Aquaculture, and Agricultural Development (SEPADA) is conducting training programs for cattle producers across five municipalities. Led by José Alfredo Bermúdez Beltrán, these sessions aim to equip producers with the tools to identify, report, and manage potential outbreaks of the cattle screwworm. The initiative focuses on clinical sign recognition, prevention measures, and animal inspection to prevent the pest from spreading and impacting the economic stability of local farming families.
