LiveWire S4 Honcho Street approved for motorcycle training programs

LiveWire has announced that its S4 Honcho Street electric motorcycle now meets the criteria set by the Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) for use in rider training programs. This development allows new riders to potentially earn their motorcycle endorsement using an electric model, bypassing the need to master a traditional clutch and gearbox.

The S4 Honcho Street is designed as an approachable, urban-focused mini-moto. It weighs approximately 266 lbs (121 kg) and features a seat height under 30 inches. Because it utilizes an electric drivetrain, operation is simplified to a twist-and-go mechanism, making it a natural transition for those experienced with e-bikes or electric scooters.

To facilitate training, the bike includes reduced-speed riding profiles equivalent to first- and second-gear environments, limiting speeds to 18 mph and 28 mph respectively. The model offers a top speed of 59 mph and features a swappable battery system to support full days of training.
