Livorno and Borzano launch new shelters for vulnerable residents

In Livorno, the Randi Association announced the opening of a new Casa Rifugio at a secret address on 1 July 2026. The shelter will provide immediate accommodation for Italian and migrant women, with or without children, who are victims of domestic abuse and gender‑based violence. The project was made possible by funding from the Tuscany region and is part of the municipality’s 2026 Anti‑Violence Programme, which aims to increase protected places and integrated support services for victims.

In the nearby town of Borzano, the renovated municipal building Ca’ Lodola will be inaugurated on 5 July 2026. Managed by the non‑profit Casa Betania under the “Abitare solidale” initiative, the facility will host up to 18 people experiencing socio‑economic fragility and will also operate as a B&B for tourists. The refurbishment was financed through a regional urban‑regeneration grant (2021) and municipal resources, and includes communal spaces, educational and reintegration programmes, and a terrace for community activities.
